Support for our Growing Up Chester capital campaign continues to roll in, despite our decision to pause efforts during the pandemic. This support includes a significant donation from Loll Designs. Co-owners Greg Benson, Dave Benson, and Tony Ciardelli, pledged $75,000 over the next three years to our Growing Up Chester capital campaign.
The campaign will improve the building’s energy efficiency and accessibility as well as increase the physical space of the Thom Storm Chalet by nearly 1,300 square feet. These updates will enhance the experience for skiers and snowboarders during the frosty months and will allow us to expand our summer day camp to serve even more families.
Chief Lollygagger, Greg Benson presented their first gift for $25,000 during our opening day celebration for our winter ski and snowboard season on December 19, 2020.
This pledge is based on Loll’s 1% For the Planet commitment with proceeds from the gross sales of their “Lollygagger Collection” of furniture. By participating in 1% and other company eco initiatives, like utilizing 100% recycled materials and an annual tree planting and creek cleanup day (which has included Chester Park over the past 12 years) Loll Designs continues to give back some of what they take from the environment in conducting their business.
This year has left no doubt for the positive impact a renovated Thom Storm Chalet will make on our community. The continued enthusiasm for the project during this difficult time from our friends at Loll has given us confidence to resume our active fundraising efforts!
We have received pledges, donations, and in-kind support of nearly $450,000 to date. This figure puts us at 25% of our projected $1.8 million campaign.
