Unprecedented times
On March 16th, we received the official word that City Buildings, including the Thom Storm Chalet, would close to the public due to the COVID-19 virus.
We do feel fortunate that we were able to complete our winter program before feeling the full impact of this pandemic, and we hope that the crisis stabilizes by June, so that we can provide summer camp to our Chester Bowl Families.
Pausing active fundraising
Unfortunately, the uncertainty of the COVID-19 crisis, both from a public health perspective and an economic perspective, has created an environment where many businesses and families are unable to commit to significant new charitable gifts. Therefore, we decided to pause active fundraising for the Growing Up Chester Capital Campaign.
We do not have a date set to restart active fundraising; this will depend on both the passing of the health crisis and the stabilization of the economy.
Campaign funds are secure
Our campaign has raised over $400,000 of the $1.8 million goal. Capital funds are in a separate account, and are reserved for this project. Please note that any gifts that you have made are secure and will not be used for any other purpose.
If you have pledges currently due or scheduled to be due soon, and are not able to make your payments as scheduled, please reach out to Dave Schaeffer to adjust the timing of payments as necessary.
We are confident that when we come out on the other side of this crisis, we will be able to jump right back into funding for the Thom Storm Chalet, enabling us to expand and completely renovate the Chalet so that we can serve the Duluth community for generations to come!
With gratitude,
Dave Schaeffer and the Growing Up Chester team
