The silent phase of the Growing Up Chester capital campaign kicked off May 8. Fundraising co-chairs Curt Leitz and Corbin Smyth, along with a cadre of volunteers, will be meeting with prospective donors, businesses and foundations to raise money for the renovation and expansion of the Thom Storm Chalet.
But while technically this is the “silent phase,” this is not a capital campaign that is being kept under wraps. “We want the silent phase of the Growing Up Chester capital campaign to be the worst kept secret in Duluth,” quipped Smyth. “A renovation of the Thom Storm Chalet is one that the community has been waiting for, so we want to generate excitement and buzz about this project long before we move to the public phase.”
The aim of the silent phase is to raise the majority of the needed $1.8-2 million for the renovation and expansion of the Thom Storm Chalet, after which the campaign will be made public. During the public phase, events and other fundraisers will be held to reach the goal.
